SUSTAINABILITY AT OUR CORE

We believe every cup of tea should be kind—to people and to the planet. That’s why we partner with tea estates to ensure fair wages and better working conditions, while reinforcing responsible sourcing and ethical trade practices across our supply chain.

Our commitment goes beyond the leaves. From shifting to eco-friendly packaging and serviceware to rolling out waste reduction initiatives in our stores and backend operations, we’re rethinking the way we work for a lighter footprint. Looking ahead, we continue to explore cleaner energy sources, including solar integration, as part of our journey towards a more sustainable future.

EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES

Behind every cup of our Sri Lankan teas are the dedicated individuals whose care and expertise make our blends exceptional. We are committed to sourcing our teas ethically, partnering with plantations certified by organizations such as Fairtrade. Through these practices, we support sustainable production and initiatives that enhance the livelihoods of tea-growing communities.

ECO-FRIENDLY CULTIVATION

At The 1872 Clipper Tea Co., our commitment to supporting workers and their communities goes hand in hand with caring for the environment. We partner with tea producers certified by the Rainforest Alliance, embracing sustainable farming practices that protect forests, wildlife, and natural resources, while promoting climate-friendly cultivation methods for a greener future.

CONSUMER TRANSPARENCY

We believe that delivering exceptional tea goes hand in hand with openness. By sourcing teas ethically and using advanced grading technology, we ensure full transparency across our supply chain. This traceability allows you to know the origins of every leaf, reflecting our unwavering commitment to quality and integrity in every cup.

RESPONSIBLE PACKAGING

At The 1872 Clipper Tea Co., we are moving away from plastics and embracing eco-friendly alternatives in both retail packaging and single-use items. Our first steps include using FSC-certified paper and bamboo in place of traditional wood for our tea boxes, while actively reducing overall material use—including minimizing plastic shrink wrap—to lower environmental impact.

EMBRACING CLEANER ENERGY

We are committed to sustainable production through cleaner energy solutions. By integrating solar-powered technologies and optimizing equipment for greater efficiency, we aim to reduce power consumption and emissions, supporting a greener tea production process.

CARBON CAPTURE

Protecting the environment and preserving biodiversity is at the heart of our practices. We are researching ways to enhance carbon capture in tea plantations, including enabling crops to absorb more CO₂ and exploring replanting strategies to further offset carbon output, contributing positively to the ecosystem.
